Quiet but deadly!
First place angler looking at angler of the year!
If it had not been for the May tournament it could have been all over with. Joel Lee has been quietly moving up the standings for the angler of the year title and most of us have not noticed. With this month’s first place finish he has moved into second place with only two points to go for first. Joel fished the main river and some back waters with a spinner bait to take the win with 11.65 lbs and also had the lunker for the day at 4.70 lbs.

Steve Hadley was the second place angler with his 9.10 lb. stringer that came off of the river on crank baits and plastics.

Third place of 8.90 lbs. was caught by yours truly on spinner baits and plastics.

Bubba Thiel just missed out on the money with an 8.35 lb. stringer that puts him in fifth place for the year and may cause a slight dilemma at the home front. It seems that it is his wife’s birthday on the 13th – the same day as our last tournament and he will have to fish it if he is to stay in the top six. Hey Bubba, this might help: you get a free entry in the next tournament for being in fourth this time.

Reese Watkins had 8.00 lbs. for the fifth place position.

Sixth was Bill Bellendorf with 7.75 lbs.

The next one:
The LBTA at East Pearl
The Pearl is up and down depending on the rain and that is a good thing for the fish even if it makes it hard to catch them sometimes. We will be out of East Pearl launch on Aug. 13 for our final tournament of the year.

CLASSIC QUALIFICATIONS
Remember that you must fish four of the six tournaments to qualify for the classic or fish three and pay for one. If you have fished all three at Delacroix, you must fish or pay for one more to qualify for the classic. We have 19 anglers qualified for the Classic and the following anglers need one more tournament to qualify: Ben Hollingsworth, Jon Paul Arnoult, Kayo Frichineaud, Bill Hardman, Scott White, Reese Watkins, Billy Hoelzel, Herb Hudson, Mark DeGeorge, and Bruce Vallelungo.
