Anglers Quest 2007 Twin Lake Saturday Series #19 on Lake Livingston out of Kickapoo Bait & Tackle in Onalaska, TX began this event with 38 teamed anglers showing up to fish for the $1330.00 purse. The event began at safe light, which was 7:00 am. Weigh in was conducted at 3:15 pm. All Anglers Quest Series after the qualifying events will provide the team anglers of the year with free entries to all 2008 Saturday Series events. The Top 25 teams will go to the Saturday Series Championship on October 27-28 on Lake Houston & Lake Livingston.
A special Top 7 group of teams will qualify to go to the “Tournament of Champions” to be held on November 10-11 on Lake Tyler and will pay the winning team $10,000.00. All A/Q Championships include Calcutta auctions which builds the Championship purse to some very nice $$ to fish for, for a very small entry fee of $100.00 per team. Lake Livingston water was about normal pool level with water temps running 85-87 degrees.
The weather at takeoff was 66 degrees with a warming to 85 degrees by weigh in time. The fishing was really good on Livingston as there were 9 limits brought to the scales, a total of 59 bass at 150.56 lbs making the average bass brought to the scales today weigh 2.55 lb.
Local Big Dogs! the Kickapoo Bait & Tackle team of Gene Swann & Ronnie Taylor from Onalaska, Tx ran Ronnie’s Skeeter/Yamaha bass rig to Kickapoo Creek areas to catch their bass flipping Tx rigged brush hogs and Critter Craws to piers and shoreline cover in 1-4 ft of water. The day found them catching 3 limits of bass to cull and bring in their best 5 that tipped the scales at 16.99 lbs to finish in 1st place. The 1st big bass of this event came up a dead even tie at 4.87 lbs between Gene & Ronnie and Chris DiBerardino & Larry Cotten, they split the big bass pot and took home $90 each and gave Gene & Ronnie a total of $715.00 for their day on the water.
More local Big Dogs, Larry Jenkins & Morgan Burton from Livingston, Tx ran their bass rig to Kickapoo creek areas to finish in 2nd with their best 5 bass, caught on Tx rigged worms & spinner baits that tipped the scales at 14.57 lbs. They collected $325.00 for their day on the water.
The new team of Brent Parks from Onalaska & Joe Loftin from Diboll, Tx ran their bass rig to various creek areas north of the 190 bridge fishing Tx rigged soft plastics in 1-6 ft of water and finished in 3rd place with a total of 5 bass that tipped the scales at 14.39 lbs. Their efforts paid them $200.00 for their day on the water.
Bobby Behrend & Judy Brandt Behrend from Mont Belvieu, Tx came to the scales today with 5 bass at 14.15 lbs with a fine 4.12 lb kicker to garner 4th place and collect valuable points to qualify for the “Tournament of Champions”.
