Lowe Targets Competitve Tournament Anglers

Lowe Boats has introduced a new high-performance aluminum fishing rig for the 2000 model year that is designed specifically for competitive bass anglers.

The new Lowe® 180WZ model offers the light weight of aluminum alloy construction combined with the top-end, tournament-style performance of fiberglass-constructed products. When rigged with an optional 115 hp Evinrude® outboard with FICHT® Ram Injectionโ„ข it can top 60 mph. No doubt, this boat will be hugely popular with tournament anglers.

“The Lowe 180WZ model is designed for more serious anglers who demand the most from their rigs — especially the high-end tournament performance they need to stay competitive on any bass tournament trail,” said John Metcalf, director of marketing at Lowe Boats. “When rigged with Evinrude’s new 115-ho outboard, it will offer the same top-end performance speed as any competitior’s 18-foot fiberglass product equipped with a 150-horsepower outboard.”

The Lowe 180WZ model’s all welded, aluminum alloy construction offer two distinct advantages over its fiberglass counterpart — price and lighter weight, Metcalf said.

“Tournament anglers will find they can purchase a Lowe 180WZ model for about half of what they would spend on a fiberglass rig of similar size and amenitites, and they can tow it using a much smaller tow vehicle,” Metcalf said. “These advantages, combined with the tournament-style performance, will enable us to offer a great producer that will be extremely competitive on the water — and a hands-down winner for our dealers.”

The 180WZ model features bow and stern fishing platforms with molded pedestal seats and removeable cushions. A 30-inch, 11.4-gallon stern mounted livewell with rounded splash-guard aerator, dividers, timer and aluminum lid will keep the catch lively for the weigh-in. Stow-away is generous with dry, lockable rod and bow and lockable under-deck storage — all with sturdy, rot-free aluminum lids. Deck-mounted rod straps are standard.

The all welded hull on the 180WZ model features 5052 marine grade aluminum alloy material providing superior strength and durability. The paddd, progressive lift hull design offers quick hole-shots and superior on-plane performance and maneuverability. A Tuf-Deckโ„ข aluminu8m floor liner and decks, 16-ounce marine grade carpet, wide extruded gunnels with a rub rail insert, and high-gloss, multi-step paint finish add to the overall durability of this rig.

The helm’s composite molded console features performance rig-instrumentation, including speedomoter, voltmeter, tachometer, and fuel and trim/tilt guages. A Humminbird Wide W fish/depth finder also is standard. The helm and double-wide passenger seats make riding to the fishing hot spots a pleasure.

The 180WZ standard package includes a Johnson® 90-horsepower outboard and a 42-inch, 12-volt Evinrude® electric trolling motor rated at 44 pounds of thrust. A black painted bunk trailer with waterproof taillights and custom molded composite fenders protects and transports the rig for easy access to the water.

Power options include the Johnson 115-horsepower outboard or the Evinrude 115-horsepower outboard with FICHT® Ram Injection! A 22-inch OMC Raker® propeller comes with either optional power choice.
