It will give you some basic information like what kind of terrain you will be fishing, depth of water, and other features.
A quality contour map can tell you depths and point out creek channels, standing timber, points, and underwater islands.
A good source for larger reservoirs is the U.S. Geological Survey Map Information Office in Reston, Virginia. Maps of Tennessee Valley Authority
Reservoirs can be acquired by contacting the TVA mapping service branch in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Game and Fish Departments, marinas, and tackle shops can also be great sources.
