Anglers Quest 2012 Lake Houston Saturday Series #4 out of Lake Houston Marina in Huffman, Tx began this event with 50 teamed anglers showing up to fish for the $3235.00 purse. Any team entering 6 of the 8 Lake Houston Team Series events will automatically qualify for the 2-day Houston Championship. The top team in points after all 8 events will be declared the Team Anglers of the Year and will be awarded free entries to all 2013 Houston Team Series events. The teams entering all 8 Houston Team series events will automatically qualify for all 3 of the Lakes Team Series 2-day Championships. Any team qualifying for any A/Q Championship will be allowed to enter the “Tournament of Champions” on October 20-21 at Lake Falcon. This 4th event of 2012 was started at 6:25 am. Lake Houston water was in decent shape and at approximately normal pool with water temps ranning 75-78 degrees. The weather at takeoff was alot windy and 53 degrees with a warming to 72 degrees by weigh in time. The fish catching was slow on Lake Mud today as there were only 4 limits brought to the scales, for a total of 54 bass at 116.72 lbs making the average bass brought to the scales today weigh 2.16 lb.

The Team of Matt Benefield & Cody Werner from Huffman, Tx ran Matt’s BassCat/Mercury bass rig to the north end of the lake in Luces Bayou to catch their bass throwing rivets in 1-5 ft of water around pads using their American Rodsmiths & Denali rods & Revo reels. They managed to cull 2 times to finish in 1st place with 12.33 lbs. This win made them $1400.00 for their day on the water.

The team of Dean Coleman & Jimmy Emmons Jr from Humble, Tx ran Jimmy’s Champion/Yamaha bass rig to north lake creeks. They finished in 2nd with their best 5 bass caught with worms & small cranks in 1-5 ft water that tipped the scales at 11.21 lbs. Their day on the lake paid back $700.00 for their efforts.

The team of David Wheaton from New Caney, Tx & Lanny Diemert from Kingwood, Tx ran Lanny’s Champion/Mercury bass rig to north lake creeks. They finished in 3rd with their best 5 bass caught with tx rigged centipedes & small cranks in 1-5 ft water that tipped the scales at 10.72 lbs. Their day on the lake paid back $430.00 for their efforts. The one man team of Albert White from Houston, Tx finished in 4th with 4 bass at 10.54 lbs and also had the Big Bass of the event at 4.65 lbs and collected $425.00. The team of Cody Shirley & Hector Rios finished in 5th place and collected $155.00 for their day on the water.
