Anglers Quest 2005 Wednesday Series Championship is now in the books, and the Wednesday Conroe Series is complete for 2005. The event began on Friday evening with the presentation of the special Trophies to 2005 Anglers of the Year, Keith Kramer & Chuck Gstohl. They will receive free entries to all A/Q Wednesday Series Events in 2006. The Top 10 Angler Teams of the year were awarded Top 10 Plaques with the statistics of all 23 2005 Wednesday Series events engraved. The $50 per team donated raised a Big Bass Pot totaling $1250.00. The Calcutta Auction followed and sold teams from $55 to $1100 and raised $9236.00 to add to the anglers pot.

Lake Conroe water was in good shape at about 3 ½ ft below normal pool. The weather was very nice with just a slight breeze on both days of the event but was incredibly nice as mid 50’s at daybreak to mid 70’s during the days.

As Day 1 got underway with the playing of the national anthem, the 25 Qualified Teams took off into the dim morning light at 7 am going for the $15,836.00 purse which was the 97% payback promised by A/Q at all Championships.

Mike Weade from Spring, Tx & Kenneth Lake from Tomball, Tx brought 4 Bass to the scales to lead the way on day 1 with 17.44 lbs. Ronnie & Ron Wagner from Conroe, Tx brought in 5 bass that tipped the scales at 16.95 lbs to hold down the 2nd spot on day 1.

The team of Mike Mueller & Julian Clepper from Magnolia, Tx brought 5 bass to the scales that weighed in at 16.29 lbs to grab the 3rd spot on day 1. The team of Mike Hudson from Magnolia, Tx & John Stephenson from Montgomery, Tx had 5 bass at 15.01 lbs to hold down the 4th spot on day 1. The 5th spot on day 1 was filled by the team of Brian Burkhalter from Houston, Tx & Rusty Neimeyer from Willis, Tx. They had 4 bass that tipped the scales at 13.89 lbs.

Day 2 was also started at 7 am by the national anthem. Day 2 weigh-in was exciting as the lead changed several times. Weade & Lake brought 4 more bass to the scales that weighed 15.19 lbs to give them a 2 day total of 32.63 lbs and the 1st place check totaling $4306.00 and the A/Q Trophies. They also had the 1st Big Bass of the event which figured into their payday for $750.00. Mike & Kenneth failed to buy their team during the Calcutta auction on Friday night, Terry Ponfick purchased them for $280.00 and received a 1st place Calcutta check for $3462.00.

Mueller & Clepper brought in 3 more bass on day 2 that weighed 11.43 lbs to give them a 2 day total of 27.72 lbs. They also did not buy their team in the auction but, took home the 2nd place A/Q Plaques and $2028.00. Again, Terry Ponfick purchased their team and received another 2nd place Calcutta check for $2077.00 making Terry a $5539.00 winner for the weekend.

Ronnie & Ron Wagner brought another 3 bass at 7.05 lbs to the scales on day 2 to boost their 2-day total to 27.34 lbs and claimed the 3rd place A/Q plaques and a $1262.00 payday. The Wagner’s also failed to buy their team at the auction, but was purchased by Mike Hudson for $705.00 which resulted in making Mike a check for $1386.00.

Frank Lewandowski & Chris Russell managed to bring in 7 bass to bring their 2 day total to 24.10 lbs and claim the 4th place A/Q Plaques and $550.00. Robert Baney from Magnolia, Tx & Santi Mansito from Conroe, Tx weighed in a total of 6 bass at 22.57 lbs over the 2 days and collected the 5th place A/Q Plaques and $265.00. Chris Winklemann & Wade Hester from Houston, Tx brought in the 2nd big bass on day 2, a fine 7.72 lber that paid them $500.00 for 1 bite.

Anglers Quest 2006 Schedules are all available now on our website. All A/Q events in 2006 will again be conducted on Lakes Conroe, Houston and Livingston.
