Anglers Quest 2012 Sam Rayburn Team Series #4 out of The Umphrey Pavilion at Sam Rayburn, Tx began this event with 134 teamed anglers showing up to fish for the $8900.00 purse. Any team entering 6 of the 8 Sam Rayburn Team Series events will automatically qualify for the 2-day Rayburn Championship. The top team in points after all 8 events will be declared the Team Anglers of the Year and will be awarded free entries to all 2013 Rayburn Team Series events. The teams entering all 8 Rayburn Team series events will automatically qualify for all 3 of the Lakes Team Series 2-day Championships. Any team qualifying for any A/Q Championship will be allowed to enter the “Tournament of Champions” on October 20-21 at Lake Falcon.

This 4th event of 2012 was started at 6:40 am. Sam Rayburn water was in good shape and 2.0 feet below normal pool level with water temps ranning 64-67 degrees. The weather at takeoff was a calm 68 degrees with a warming to 86 degrees by weigh in time. The fish catching was pretty good on Big Sam today as there were 40 limits brought to the scales, for a total of 221 bass at 494.02 lbs making the average bass brought to the scales today weigh 2.23 lb.

The team of N Dee Williams from Cushing, Tx & Kyle Rawlinson from Tx ran their Ranger/Rude from The Boat Center in Flint, Tx to north lake creek areas to catch their bass throwing Stanley swim jigs, c-rigged worms & yellow magics in 2-15 ft of water. They managed to cull with 40 keepers to finish in 1st place with 21.13 lbs for the win and made them $2300.00 for their day on the water.

David Morton from Lufkin, Tx & Steve Morton from Deer Park, Tx ran their bass rig to north lake creek areas to probe the ditches, drains & points with grass to bring 16.63 lbs to the scales. They finished in 2nd and collected $1100.00.

The team of Kris Hunt from Lufkin, Tx & Steve Gardner from Garrison, Tx finished in 3rd with 16.10 lbs and took home $850.00 for their day on the water. The AOY team of Rusty Clark from Sam Rayburn, Tx & Cory Rambo from Orange, Tx ran their bass rig to north lake areas to catch their bass throwing swim baits & light c-rigs in 5-15 ft of water. They managed to cull several times to finish in 4th with 16.03 lbs and made them $750.00 for their day on the water. Rodney Owens & Scott Gill had 15.78 lbs to finish in 5th and collect $650.00 in this event. Rick Hughes & Tommy Peevey finished in 6th with 15.11 lbs. They also had the Big Bass of the event at 6.70 lbs and made them selves $750.00 for their day on the water. There was a total of 13 places paid in this event.
