Weiks and Weiler Win
70 tested anglers came to the Tomahawk area on September 25, 26 and 27 to compete in the Central Wisconsin River Series Championship presented by MinnKota, Humminbird and The Stevens Point Brewery. 35 two-person teams competed for over $9,800 in cash plus prizes over two days on the beautiful Lake Mohawksin System.
Following a season-long competition of 4 challenging qualifying events, these anglers came fully aware that some great catches were possible as long as the weather cooperated. That was the key factor it seemed. Day one had a two and a half hour fog delay so the morning bite was virtually wiped out. It showed in the amount of fish brought to the scales on Saturday. Sunday morning was fog free and the bite was much better. Many more fish came to the scales, and Sunday had the biggest fish of the event as well. Day one leader Matt Stefan with his partner Shaun Kruzitski dropped to 7th while a couple teams that only had one fish on Saturday jumped up in the standings with good 5 fish limits.
With consistent two day 5 fish limits however was Darin Weiks and Shawn Weiler. They totaled a 24.83 two day total and won by just over 2 pounds.
