Severe threatening thunderstorms were surrounding Cedar Creek Lake in the early morning hours before tournament time. Most couples stayed the night and managed to stay out of the storms however the couples that decided to drive in that morning were just happy to get there. Severe storms made driving conditions very difficult. At take off time we had cloudy skies with a 10 15 mph east wind with the threat of storms. The old saying, ” When the winds blow from the east the fish bite the least” is defiantly a fairy tale with the C.A.S.T. Metroplex couples that fished. Everyone that fished weighed at least one fish.
Our 1st place couple for the tournament was a Northeast region couple that come over and fished with us, Ray & Diane Richmon of Scurry, who managed to bring in a heavy 5 fish limit to the scales that weighed a whopping 24.91 lbs. to take home a check for $400.00. Ray and Diane caught their fish on jigs on the beds on the west side of the lake around the mid-lake area.
Congratulations! The 2nd place couple, Jimmy and Karen Williams of Granbury, also caught a big 5-fish sack that weighed a total of 20.21 lbs. to bring home a check for $230.00. Jimmy and Karen caught their fish on watermelon Zoom lizards in 3 4 feet of water off grassy banks. Jimmy would like to thank his sponsors War Eagle Custom Lures, Pro-Kon Troll, and Continental Batteries.
Great Job! Our 3rd place couple, Bobby and JoAnna Clark of Azle, brought in a 5-fish limit to the scales that weighed 17.10 lbs. that got them a check for $135.00. Nice catch! Bobby and JoAnna also were the winners of the Granbury tournament.
An 8.62 lb. bass was overall big bass of the tournament. The lucky couple who caught this giant was Jimmy and Karen Williams of Granbury. Congratulations! The Williams received a check for $75.00 for that fish to go along with their second place overall finish. Great Job!

NEXT EVENT INFORMATION:
C.A.S.T. Metroplex Division will be heading North of Fort Worth to Lake Bridgeport on April 27th. Registration and weigh-in will be held at Runaway Bay boat ramp located next to the Texaco gas station and Harbor Inn Motel. Directions from Fort Worth: Take I-35 North to Highway 287 North. Exit Highway 114 west to Bridgeport. Turn left on Highway 380 to Runaway Bay. Go over bridge and boat ramp is on your right.
Registration will start at 5:30 a.m. by the ramp. Approximate take-off time will be between 6:30 6:45 a.m. I would like everyone to be in the water by 6:25 a.m. Fishing on Bridgeport should be excellent. The weather will hopefully cooperate for at least one of our remaining tournaments. So far we have had strong nasty winds and rain what else can we get. The water temperature should be in between 65 – 70 degrees. The spawn should be still going on at tournament time for most of the lake since cooler weather so far. Lures that possibly might work at Bridgeport are spinnerbaits, stick baits, crankbaits, lizards, and jigs. Fish these baits in the backs of creeks and coves.

As always, We want to thank everyone that come out and braved the predicted forecast of 3 to 5 inches of rain expected to fall all day according to the weatherman. Just hearing that on the news Friday made me even not want to spend the day at the lake. I was however very surprised of the turnout that we did have at our third event of the season. Again, couples please do not get discouraged about participation; we have the memberships to have an outstanding tournament if the weather would not turn sour on tournament day. Remember to tell all your friends to come out and join C.A.S.T.

“Couple of the Year” race is under way and John Staley and Page Cundiff still have a small lead after the third event. However Bobby and JoAnna Clark are stepping on their toes but it is still way too early to determine the outcome. With three remaining tournaments left please do not get discouraged. To qualify for the championship all you need to do is fish all six events or accumulate 250 points. Remember, We are all here to have fun, enjoy the sport of bass fishing, meeting and making new friends.
