The NY BASS Chapter Federation (NYBCF) will hold the fourth annual Take a Soldier Fishing day on Oneida Lake Saturday April 28th. The NYBCF has assembled volunteer boaters and invited 125 Soldiers from the Army’s 10th Mountain Division for an all expense paid fishing trip with rods, reels and tackle and life vests provided for the Soldier’s use. Soldiers and Boaters arrive at 6 AM, begin fishing at 9 AM and return for the afternoon weigh-in at 1 PM followed by a free BBQ style luncheon with big fish awards and raffle prizes. Last year’s big fish, a 21.33 lb Common Carp was caught by Specialist Nathan Oropeza who fished with Mr. Eric Tessmer. The NY State DEC Region 7 office has sanctioned this event as a free fishing day for participating Soldiers.
