Our last tournament was held on August 15th at the Ross Barnett. We had 12 fish caught with a total weight of 28.44 lbs. All fish were alive and released.
It started out cold enough for everyone to wear jackets, but by the weigh-in they had on shorts. About 5 minutes after blast off we saw one of our couples heading back to the dock. It turned out to be Cynthia and Mike Norsworthy that were second in the points. As they came up we walked down to see what was wrong and he said the boat wouldn’t get on plan. As the motor was raised we could see the problem was that he had forgotten to take the motortoter off. Jokingly he said that could happen to anyone and removed it seeing it was bent, but went right back fishing. Then about 10 minutes later Paula and Jimmy Carruth that were in 3rd place in the points called saying their motor had expired. But just as the Norsworthy’s they went back fishing and as it turned out they came in first with the Norsworthy’s second. So that just goes to show you that even with motor problems you can still win a tournament if your as good as these couples are.
Around 2:00 pm we called to see if Paula and Jimmy had any fish which they did. Then our next move was to find a couple close to them to bring Paula in with the fish. As it turned out it was Joy and Tom Caruthers who were in First place in the points and have been for several tournaments. As the weigh-in was going on Tom went back and pulled Jimmy back to the boat ramp. A BIG THANKS to Joy and Tom for doing that for them.
Not only did Paula and Jimmy win the tournament, but they won ANGLER’S OF THE YEAR for the second year in a row. CONGRATULATIONS TO THE BOTH OF YOU.
Lisa Bacon and Ron Fears only brought in one fish, but is was our Big Bass of the day that weighed 4.17lbs.
A SPECIAL THANK YOU TO ALL OUR COUPLES THAT HAVE BEEN WITH US FROM THE BEGINNING AND TO THE NEW ONES THAT JUST STARTED THIS YEAR. WE HOPED EVERYONE ENJOYED FISHING WITH US THIS YEAR AND WILL TELL THEIR FRIENDS.
Our Championship will be September 22nd through the 25th on Grenada Lake in Grenada Mississippi.
