Regulator Marine is pleased to announce its sponsorship support for the upcoming 2008 World Sailfish Championship from April 15-19 in Key West, FL. This event is one of the world’s most prestigious offshore fishing events where elite anglers will compete for $125,000 in cash, including a $100,000 first-place purse.
As official event sponsors Regulator is one of only two manufacturers that will have category exclusivity as the official World Sailfish Championship center console sponsor.
The celebrity-studded tournament raises money for several charities and brings together top-tier sponsors and legends, such as former Miami Dolphins Coach Don Shula, baseball Hall-of-Fame member Johnny Bench and renowned sportfishing and environmental artist Guy Harvey, among others.
“We are thrilled to be involved with and supporting this top-notch tournament,” said Carol Ricketts, Regulator director of sales and marketing. “This competition appeals to serious sailfish enthusiasts who are looking to test their skills against a spectacular offshore adversary. Since Regulator provides the ideal platform for anglers who demand the ultimate in a center console offshore fishing boat, it seemed like the perfect fit. We are excited to join the event as an official sponsor and look forward to promoting our line among such a distinguished gathering.”
Regulator, known for producing some of the finest bluewater fishing boats worldwide, has joined an exclusive group of sponsors to help make this year’s sailfish tournament as successful as it is thrilling.
Galati Yacht Sales, Regulator’s Florida west coast dealer, is partnering on the event and will be on hand at The Westin Key West Resort and Marina featuring two of Regulator’s most popular rugged and durable boats, the all- new 30′ Express and one of their famous center console models.
Every year since its launch in 2003, the event has drawn world-class names in terms of both sponsors and participants. Chris King, World Sailfish Championship founder and chairman, agrees that the addition of Regulator as a premier event sponsor is an ideal match.
“This is a world-class tournament and Regulator is a world-class offshore boat,” said King. “It’s a great brand, known for its high-end quality craftsmanship, and is a product we feel is ideal for our event. We are very happy to welcome Regulator aboard.”
The four-day event in tropical Key West, Florida kicks-off April 15 with a color guard presentation, followed by the national anthem and an impressive F-18
“fly-by” in Mallory Square. One hundred and ten boats with over 630 anglers will compete during three days of hard-fought, exciting sailfish action under International Game Fish Association rules.
In the evenings, anglers and celebrities will mingle and enjoy gourmet dinners, silent and live charity auctions and live entertainment at nearby Mallory Square. Highlights include a “lay day” concert by country music star Jolie Holliday on April 18, and a fireworks display.
