“Running & Gunning was the key in winning” states Allen and Robin Little of their win at Lake Tawakoni. It took 17.35 pounds of fish and double that in gallons of gas for Allen and Robin Little of Garland to win the C.A.S.T. northeast regions Lake Tawakoni tournament.
The mornings prefer weather allowed Allen and Robin to run to several spots all over the lake. Each one produced only a single fish. Not only that but the fish came on a varied assortment of lures. The early bite came on white Horizon buzz baits fished right on the bank. “Most of our fish all day were very shallow,” said Robin. As the sun rose higher in the clear sky this winning team switched to fishing Lucky Craft lures on several points on the lower end of the lake. Then to finish out their 5 fish bag, they turned to Berkley power worms with Eagle Claw hooks.
Big bass of the tournament was landed by Stan Brown and Sherry Knight, a 4.40 lbs lunker. Stan is the brother of Carolyn Voyles and readily admits that everything he knows about fishing he learned from Carolyn and brother-in-law, Erbie.
