Anglers Quest 2010 Conroe Weekend Team Series #5 out of El Dorado Jack’s in Montgomery, TX began this event with 22 teamed anglers showing up to fish for the $1485.00 purse.

The event began at safe light at 5:55 am with weigh in conducted at 3:15 pm. With temps in the 70’s’s-90’s all day with little breeze this was a miserable day to be on the water with the other 100’s of Memorial Day weekend boats. This Conroe Weekend Team Series after all 9 events will provide the Angler of the year with free entries to all 2011 Conroe Weekend Team Series events. The anglers entering a minimum of 5 Conroe Weekend Team series events will automatically qualify for the 1-day Lake Conroe Weekend Team Championship in October. Any angler making the cut to any A/Q Championship will also be eligible for the “Tournament of Champions” at Lake Palestine in November.

Lake Conroe water was in good shape and about normal pool level with water temps running 76-80 degrees. The fish catching was good for the anglers today on Conroe as there were 3 limits of bass brought to the scales today. There was a total of 30 bass at 113.01 lbs making the average bass brought to the scales today weigh 3.76 lb.

The team of Russell Cecil from Willis, Tx & Wes Schubert from Conroe, Tx ran Wes’s Ranger/Rude bass rig to numerous areas north & south of the 1097 bridge. They used their Falcon rods & H20 reels to throw 10″ Big Bite worms & Bandit deep diving cranks to catch their best 5 bass in 10-20 ft water. One of their bass was the Big Bass of the event, a fine 7.35 lber. They reported catching 30 keeper bass at 25.23 lbs to finish in 1st place and collect $930.00 for their day on the water.

The team of Sam Grantham from Willis, Tx & Wesley Hobbs from Conroe, Tx ran their Champion/Mercury bass rig to numerous areas north & south of the 1097 bridge. They used their American Rodsmiths & Castaway rods tipped with c-rigged worms & crank baits in 15 ft water to bring 5 bass to the scales today at 19.00 lbs to finish in 2nd and collect $500.00 for their day on the water. The team wanted to Thank Champion boats for a fine boat to fish from.

The 2009 AOY team of Julian Clepper II & Julian Clepper III were the 1st place out of the money today and finished with 5 bass at 18.61 lbs. They took home the Santone & ZZ Lures gift certificates for their day on the water.

The Tuesday Series continues on Tuesday June 1st on Lake Houston from 6:00-9:15 pm. Anglers Quest will be back at El Dorado Jack’s on Lake Conroe on Wednesday June 2nd for the 10th of23 Lake Conroe Wednesday night Series events, these events will go from 6:00-9:15 pm with a $85 entry fee per team. On June 5th & 6th Anglers Quest will be at Mill Creek Park on Sam Rayburn for the 6th of 9 Rayburn Saturday & Individual Series events. On June 12th & 13th A/Q will be at Kickapoo Bait & Tackle at Lake Livingston. Remember to get your teams entry in early to get a low take off #, as they are issued when you enter.
