Slow and steady keeps you on target

When it comes to flipping and pitching, one thing that several other pros and I have discovered is that it’s really important to keep your trolling motor running at a constant speed as you move your boat along a shoreline. If you’re constantly going on and off the foot pedal, the fish sense the changes and get nervous. Even though I use what I consider the quietest trolling motor, a Minn Kota Maxim, the fish are still going to sense that change in vibration and that change in noise. So the thing you want to do with your trolling motor speed, is pick a setting that’s going to keep you moving at a slow, steady pace as you go. And just keep your foot on it and just keep going, don’t take your foot off unless you have to.By: Walker Agency
