Suave Joins FLW Outdoors Sponsor Family

Hemet, Calif., pro Art Berry to compete on Suave pro angling team

FLW Outdoors proudly announced Monday that Suave, the world-famous manufacturer of personal care products, is joining the family of FLW Outdoors sponsors beginning in 2006. Suave will sponsor all seven of the FLW Outdoors freshwater tournament trails including the Wal-Mart FLW Tour, Wal-Mart FLW Series, Stren Series, Wal-Mart Bass Fishing League, Wal-Mart Texas Tournament Trail presented by Abu Garcia, Wal-Mart FLW Walleye Tour and Wal-Mart FLW Walleye League.

Additionally, Suave will sponsor a professional angling team captained by bass pro Art Berry. During the 2006 season, Berry will compete at various FLW Outdoors events from a Suave-branded Ranger boat promoting both Suave for Men and Suave for Kids products. In his brief but promising FLW Outdoors career, the Hemet, Calif., pro has recorded seven top-10 finishes, including a second-place finish at the 2005 FLW Tour event held on Lake Toho. In addition to fishing the FLW Tour, Berry is a force to be reckoned with in the Stren Series Western Division. In 2004, Berry demonstrated his angling prowess by boating a 12-pound bass on Clear Lake that fell short of the FLW Outdoors record for heaviest single bass by a mere 11 ounces.

Irwin L. Jacobs, chairman of FLW Outdoors, said: “Once again FLW Outdoors has been blessed by adding Suave – as one of America’s greatest consumer brands – to our distinguished list of FLW Outdoors sponsors. Surely there is hardly a person in America who isn’t familiar with Suave products. FLW Outdoors sponsors recognize that the nation’s 55 million anglers and their families represent a target market for their products; it’s very rewarding for FLW Outdoors to be honored by Suave’s decision to join our family of sponsors.

“FLW Outdoors is committed to helping Suave extend its customer base for consumer personal care products to anglers and their families throughout America. I’m personally confident that the professional angling community will handsomely reward Suave for its belief in and support of FLW Outdoors.”

Christine Peddy, director of building brands with customers for Suave, said: “We’re excited to bring the Suave brand to the 55 million anglers and their families. Fishing is family-friendly sport and our FLW Outdoors sponsorship will allow us to reach both families and kids, both of whom are our core customers.”

Don Welsh, director of FLW Outdoors events for Unilever added: “We’re also proud to have retained Art Berry as a member of our professional angling team. Berry did an outstanding job promoting the Skippy brand for Unilever last season both on the water and at the Family Fun Zone. We are confident 2006 will be an even bigger, more exciting year for Suave and FLW Outdoors.”
