At the 2002 New York National Boat Show, Taylor Made Systems introduced a new series of shaped-glass windshields for center console boats.
The new tempered-glass windshield is being shown for the first time on a
Boston Whaler 270 Outrage at the New York show.
“The glass windshield offers significant advantages over conventional
plexiglass material,” explained Mike Oathout, vice president, sales and
marketing, for Taylor Made Systems. “The glass windshield resists
scratches, dings and discoloration, and offers a cleaner, smoother
appearance. Plexiglass can have distortion that limits visibility, while
glass windshields are distortion free.”
“This means boatowners will not have to replace their windshields every few
years when they become hopelessly scratched and discolored,” said Oathout.
The Taylor Made glass windshields will be installed as standard factory
equipment on new 270 Outrage boats for 2002. “We expect to expand the
product line with new models for other center console boats for Boston
Whaler and other boatbuilders in 2002,” said Oathout, who noted that the
windshields will be available in framed and unframed configurations.
