Thornton Wins Bass Fishing League Savannah River Division Event on Lake Russell

WHAT: David Thornton of Athens, Ga., caught a five-bass limit weighing 18 pounds, 15 ounces Saturday, June 12, 2010 to win $3,917 in the FLW BFL Savannah River Division tournament on Lake Russell. On a hot and sunny day Thornton was fishing the main lake with a Zoom worms to sack his limit.

WHAT: Dennis Medlin of Anderson, S.C., caught a 5-bass limit weighing 11 pounds Saturday, June 12, 2010 to win $1,958 in the FLW BFL Savannah River Co-angler Division on Lake Russell. Medlin was using a ? ounce blue/black rattletrap in 8-25 feet of water along the Rocky River to catch his limit.

NOTES: The next and last BFL Savannah River Division tournament for 2010 is scheduled for Sept. 25-26, at Clarks Hill Lake in Appling, Ga. After the fifth Savannah River Division tournament is complete, the top 40 boaters and co-anglers based on point standings will qualify for the Regional Championship at Lake Seminole in Bainbridge, Ga., on Oct. 21-23, for a chance to win a 198VX Ranger boat with a 200-horsepower Evinrude or Yamaha outboard and a Chevy pick-up, co-anglers will fish for a new Ranger 198VX.
