Anglers Quest 2010 Houston Tuesday Series Championship is now in the books, and the Tuesday Series for Lake Houston is complete for 2010. The event began on Friday evening at Lake Houston Marina with the presentation of the special ” Anglers Quest Goal Post” to the new “2010 Anglers of the Year”, Sandro Alfaro & James Chandler, they will receive free paid entries to all A/Q Houston Tuesday Series Events in 2011. The Calcutta Auction followed and sold teams from $60 to $520 and raised $4590.00 to add to the anglers pot. As at all Anglers Quest Championship auctions, there were 10 Limit Stix American Rodsmiths rods auctioned off to raise $ for the “Tournament of Champions” coming up at Lake Palestine in November.
The weather was clear and very nice on Saturday with high 40’s at daybreak to low 80’s during the day with a light southerly breeze for the event on Lake Houston. As the event got underway with the 21 qualified teams taking off into the dim morning light after the playing of the National Anthem at 7:00 am. The anglers were all going for the $11,660.00 purse that was the payback by Anglers Quest at this Championship event. The water at Lake Houston was in very good shape and was at approximately 2 ft below normal pool level. At the end of the day the 21 teams brought in 12 limits of bass, 76 fish that totaled 171.61 lbs with a 2.25 avg.
The team of Lee LaCour from Highlands & Michael Snook from Humble brought in a limit of 5 bass at 11.76 lbs to collect the Santone & ZZ Lures gift certificates.
Larry Cotton & Lil Larry Cotten fished this event and brought in 5 bass at 12.01 lbs to claim 5th place and $400.00.
The team of Dennis Wells from Humble & Terry Lindsey from Dayton ran their Triton/Mercury bass rig all over Lake Houston and came to the scales with 5 bass at 12.08 lbs to give them a 4th place finish and collected $750.00. They did purchase their team in the Calcutta auction for $100.00 and laid claim to $750.00 for their 4th place finish and collected a total of $1500.00 for their day on the water.
The team of Tony Digilormo from Humble & Ronnie Bates from LaPorte brought in a 5 bass limit at 12.80 lbs and claimed 3rd place and $900.00. They also had the 2nd Big Bass of the event at 4.65 Lbs and collected $440.00 for that one bite. They did purchase their team in the Calcutta auction for $160.00 and received another check for $985.00 giving them a total for the day at $2325.00.
The team of Tony Hawk from Huffman & Jeremy Murray from Porter brought in 5 bass at 13.06 lbs and claimed 2nd place and $1200.00. Tony & Jeremy did not purchase their team in the Calcutta auction for $500.00 BUT Ricky Guy did and received a check for $1175.00.
The Tiremax team of Ricky & Charlotte Guy from Humble run their Tiremax wrapped BassCat/Evinrude to north/west lake areas in 1-4 ft water and put together a nice limit of 5 bass that tipped the scales at 13.27 lbs to finish 1st in this event and collected $2200.00. They caught all their bass on Tx rigged soft plastics & small cranks. They did not purchase their team in the Calcutta auction for $320.00 BUT Brian Burleson did and received $1790.00 for their 1st place finish…..Good Job “Guys”!!
Anglers Quest 2011 Schedules are now available online at the anglers-quest website. The 1st events for the 2011 season will be the Saturday Series Team event on Sam Rayburn, January 8, & the Individual event on January 9, 2011.
