Tommie & Candra Deese Win O.H.Ivie With 19.71 lbs.

Lake O.H. Ivie more than lived upped to its repartation this weekend as several limits of bass hit the scales at the C.A.S.T. West regions tournament. What is significant about weighing a limit at Lake O.H. Ivie is that three of the five fish limit have to be by state law over 18 inches in length. Our winning stringer had 3 fish that averaged 5 pounds each and 2 bass that averaged 2&1/2 pounds each. “We were throwing back 5 pounders because they were too big”, stated Tommie, “we needed smaller fish that were under 18 inches to get our limit.” Candra & Tommie Deese used a 10 inch grape worm to land all of their fish. They rigged the worm Carolina style and fished toward the dam in the main lake. Most were landed in 12-15 feet of water.

Unlike most tournaments that are held in the hot summer time where only a very few of the anglers manage to bring a bass to the scales, we had over 90% of the couples weighing bass. Even though the lake is over 20 feet low it is still producing a lot of bass.

Rounding out our top six teams were: Second Place went to Teresa and Roy Smith with 11.86 lbs; Third Place was the team of Clyde and Michelle Compton with 11.05 lbs.; Fourth Place went to Ron & Linda McKnight with 10.62 lbs; Fifth Place with 10.55 lbs were Bobby & Jeanne Rains; Sixth Place was Carrie & Dalton Cooley with 9.22 lbs.

C.A.S.T./West would like to thank all of our sponsors for their help in making these tournaments possible. Ranger Boats, Mercury Outboards, Continental Batteries, Eagle Claw, The Shad Connection, J-Ann Awards, Lucky Craft Co. Limited, fishingworld.com, West Texas Twister Rods, Luxor Custom Jewelers, Pro-RULE and Field and Streams Sporting Goods.
