Travis & Pat McCullough Take Win On Lake Limestone

Mother Nature opened the skies on Tuesday before tournament day and poured more than 4 inches of rain into the Lake Limestone water shed. Our couples were expecting extremely muddy water conditions and were surprised to find only stained water to the power lines and by the time they reached the sloughs closest to dam the water had cleared. Thanks to all the grass and lily pads covering a large portion of the lake our couples had great water to fish. Most of the fish came from the grass growing on the main lake banks or lily pads growing no more that half way back into the sloughs.

Travis & Pat McCullough, Central Division Directors, joined the C.A.S.T. / North Couples for this tournament. Travis & Pat took 1st place with 5 nice fish that tipped the scales at 15.35lbs and was anchored by a 5.50 lunker. The McCullough’s used a Exude 5″ watermelon Poc’it Fry in the grass along main lake shores. The McCullough’s took home a nice $730.00 paycheck for 1st place and 2nd Big Bass.

Keith & Keely Ivy, a father daughter team, fished in the clearer waters of Running Branch with white jerk baits to land a 5 fish stringer that weighed-in at 14.55 lbs for Second Place.

Randy and Tracy Fuller started their morning in the lily pads using chartreuse weightless plastics. By 6:40 A.M. they had boated a hefty 6.10 black beauty for Big Bass of the Tournament. Good thing for Randy & Tracy that they got an early bite because their trolling motor went out about 8:00 and all they could do was anchor and hope for the best.

Due to low water conditions at Cooper Lake, making the lake unsafe for boating and in the best interest of our members, the next C.A.S.T. / North Tournament will be held July 11th at Lake Cypress Springs. Sign-up will be at The Super 8 Motel in Mount Vernon. Launch will be at the public ramp at Overlook Park.
