Travis Robinson WINS! by nearly 5 lbs

Anglers Quest 2011 Livingston Individual Series Championship is now in the books, and the Individual Series for Lake Livingston is complete for 2011. The event began on Friday evening with dinner & drinks at Buster McNutty’s with the presentation of the special ” Anglers Quest Goal Post” to the new “2011 Angler of the Year”, Chris DiBerardino, Chris will receive free paid entries to all A/Q Livingston Individual Series Events in 2012. The Calcutta Auction followed and sold teams from $70 to $170 and raised $740.00 to add to the anglers pot. As at all Anglers Quest Championship auctions, there were several American Rodsmiths rods auctioned off to raise $ for the “Tournament of Champions” coming up at Lake Palestine in November.

The weather was clear and very nice on Saturday with mid 70’s at daybreak to low 90’s during the day with a light southerly breeze for the event on Lake Livingston. As the event got underway with the 8 qualified anglers taking off into the dim morning light from their choice of launch ramps around the lake at 6:50 am. The anglers were all going for the $2625.00 purse that was the payback by Anglers Quest at this Championship event. The water at Lake Livingston was changing almost by the hour and was at 4.3 ft below normal pool level. At the end of day 1 the 8 teams brought in 5 limits of bass, 33 fish that totaled 75.42 lbs with a 2.28 avg. At the end of day 2 the 8 teams brought in another 5 limits of bass, 26 fish that totaled 25.00 lbs with a 2.49 avg. All E. Texas lakes have very low water levels and it makes launching boats and navigating the waterways very hazardous for all the anglers. Very few launch ramps are still useable on the lakes.

After the 2 full days of competition the angler Chris Wallace from Coldspring, Tx ran his Stratos/Johnson bass rig all over the south end of the lake to crank & flip piers & docks to bring in 10 bass at 22.59 lbs to collect the Power Pole $250 gift certificate.

The new 2011 Angler of the Year Chris DiBerardino from Huffman, Tx ran his Triton/Mercury all over Kickapoo Creek on Day 1 and then moved to the south end of the lake on day 2 to bring in 10 bass at 26.58 lbs to claim 2nd place. Chris had the 2nd Big Bass of the event, a fine 4.43 lber. Chris also owned his self and the winner of the event from the Calcutta and collected a total of $1385.00 for his weekend on the water.

Individual angler Travis Robinson from Humble, Tx ran his Nitro/Mercury bass rig to south lake areas in 11-15 ft water with brush piles around piers & docks and put together 2 nice limits of 10 bass that tipped the scales at 31.36 lbs to finish 1st in this event and collected $1000.00. Travis did not purchase his self in the Calcutta auction for $100.00, BUT Chris DiBerardino did and Chris received $520.00 for his part of the Calcutta pot. Travis caught all his bass on DD-22 chartruese & blue crank baits. Travis also landed the 1st Big Bass of 4.85 lbs on day 2 for an additional $240.00 to give him a total payday of $1240.00 … not bad for a couple days of fishin, Good Job Travis!!
