Mark Richens of London, England, caught two permit on fly, measuring a total of 48.75 inches, to win the 2010 Del Brown Invitational Permit Tournament honoring the late angling legend.
Richens earned the title of grand champion angler fishing with Captain Mark Krowka of Islamorada, Fla. Krowka was named the tournament’s grand champion guide.
Richens also caught the tournament’s largest permit, measuring 25.75 inches.
Defending champion Greg Vincent of Grand Bahama Island was named the 2010 runner-up grand champion. He caught two fish totaling 36 inches while fishing with Captain Justin Rea of Sugarloaf Key, Fla.
Next in the standings were Peter Schneirla of New York City and Captain Bill Houze of Key West. Schneirla caught one permit that measured 24 inches.
Anglers on 13 boats fished the tournament named for Brown. The internationally acclaimed angler, who died in 2003, caught more than 500 permit during his lifetime.By: Andy Newman/Carol Shaughnessy
