Coming Feb. 22 on “FLW Outdoors,” veteran pro angler Larry Nixon interviews some of the top finishers from one of the Wal-Mart FLW Tour’s most unpredictable fisheries, Lake Okeechobee in Florida. Nixon talks with winner Ray Scheide of Russellville, Ark., who blew away the competition to take the top prize of $100,000. The program also features second-place finisher Chris McCall of Jasper, Texas, and fifth-place pro Dave Lefebre of Union City, Pa.
Scheide, who has been fishing professionally for over a decade, might not look too familiar to fans of the FLW Tour. Lake Okeechobee was Scheide’s first appearance in an FLW Tour event, and his first-place finish has catapulted him into the spotlight. Not only did he finish first, he did it in a landslide, with the closest angler 13 pounds behind. The FLW Tour rookie talks about his early success that has been a long time in the making and how he plans to keep up the momentum during his first year on the tour.
McCall, who had an impressive two-day total of 23 pounds, 1 ounce, was not able to catch up to Scheide’s 36 pounds, 1 ounce, but he was still happy with his second-place finish – his best FLW Tour finish to date – that netted him $35,000. McCall talks about his outlook for the rest of the 2004 season and how he will work to qualify for the FLW Tour Championship in August. Lefebre, a Kelloggโs pro, talks about how he landed a respectable 19 pounds, 7 ounces during the final round at Lake Okeechobee, and he will also discuss his plans for the season.
