WHAT: The 2015 Walmart Bass Fishing League continues its season with three tournaments the weekend of Saturday, Mar. 7, 2015. The Bulldog Division tournament opens its season on Lake Lanier, the Choo Choo Division heads to Lake Guntersville and the Ozark Division kicks off their season on Grand Lake. Up to 400 boaters and co-anglers will be competing for top awards of up to $8,000 and $3,000 respectively in the one-day events.

NOTES: The bass fishing on Lake Lanier is expected to be good. According to recent reports, competitors can expect to find fish in pre-spawn patterns residing in deep timber. If warmer weather moves in, fish may begin to move up shallow creeks to spawn. Underspins, football-head jigs, and jerkbaits have been producing quality fish and will be favored by anglers. The winner of this tournament will likely need a five-bass limit weighing over 20 pounds.

NOTES: Lake Guntersville is expected to produce large weights this time of year. Bass will likely be concentrated in spawning phase staging areas, such as flats and milfoil beds. Large numbers of bass are not expected to be caught but the ones that bite should be large. Alabama rigs and Rat-L-Traps are commonly used baits during this season. To win this tournament angler’s five-bass limits are anticipated to exceed 25 pounds.

NOTES: Anglers will need to dial in the pre-spawn bass bite in order to find success this time of year. Fish will likely be focused around main and secondary lake points or creek edges. Alabama rigs and swim baits are often primary lures used by tournament anglers to catch suspended fish. Anglers who catch upwards of 20 pounds will be battling for the top spot in this tournament.
The BFL is a 24-division circuit devoted to weekend anglers, with 120 tournaments throughout the season, five in each division. The top 50 boaters and co-anglers from each division qualify for a regional tournament and are competing to finish in the top six, which then qualifies them for one of the longest-running championships in all of competitive bass fishing – the Walmart BFL All-American. The 2015 BFL All-American is being held June 18-20 on Kentucky Lake in Buchanan, Tenn. Top winners in the BFL can move up to the Rayovac FLW Series or even the Walmart FLW Tour.
