Islamorada’s Captain Brian Cone led his team aboard Contagious to win the Mad Dog Mandich Fishing Classic for the third consecutive year. The 2010 event wrapped up Oct. 23 in Islamorada.

Cone, with Connecticut angler Don Seifel and Islamorada’s Ed Stevens, Justin Matson and Shannon Attales, captured the $5,000 cash-and-trophy first-place boat prize. The team brought in dolphin, wahoo and tuna with a combined weight of 66.5 pounds.

Target species in the tournament were dolphin, kingfish, tuna, wahoo, snapper and grouper.

Martin Lumbi, aboard Fat Boys Gone Wild, was named the tournament’s top angler with a winning combined total of 34.3 pounds of dolphin fish. Lumbi is from Miami Lakes, Fla.

Islamorada’s Duane Grovier, fishing on the Danica Anne, caught the tournament’s top wahoo at 14.1 pounds. An 18.2-pound fish landed the top dolphin title for Jim Ott of Boca Raton, Fla., who fished on My-Sea-Cin.

Weekend Warrior titles for catching the top snapper and grouper were awarded, respectively, to Shannon Attales for a 4.3-pound snapper and Dominick Zannelli for a 14-pound grouper. Zannelli competed aboard Fishin’ Pole.
