Angels of the Seas has initiated a new conservation contest, enabling grass-roots organizations, individuals, conservation groups, tournaments, corporations and more to compete for honors for their conservation efforts. Founder, Betty Bauman, has launched the campaign to increase the numbers of conservation projects.
Bauman comments, “Right now, especially with the Gulf Oil spill, the nation has become focused on the importance of marine conservation. It’s time for those who make a difference to be recognized with a Nobel-style program.”
In conjunction with the Save Our Seas Foundation, Bauman, through her marketing and public relations company, MetroMedia Marketing, has launched the Angels of the Seas campaign to allow a variety of organizations to submit their conservation projects for awards at the Miami Boat Show in February, 2011. Organizations can submit web-based entries in categories of new or existing ladies fishing clubs, other fishing clubs or tournaments, conservation organizations, individuals, corporations with eco-friendly marine products or services and more. Web space will be provided, with easy uploads for documentation of progress with text, photos and videos.
Bauman operates a program to enable women to enter fishing through the “Ladies, Let’s Go Fishing!” seminar series. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission has presented a conservation message to more than 6,000 graduates during its 15 years of operations. Comments Bauman, “This provides an opportunity for our6,000 graduates, who now know and practice conservation, to make a difference. We have decided to open this contest to the entire marine industry and organizations, as the more people we have starting conservation projects, the better it is formarine life.”
Organizations, individuals and groups can request an entry form by emailing [email protected]. Final awards will be made at the Miami International Boat Show February 17-21, 2011. Interim Honors will be made at the “Ladies, Let’s Go Fishing!” Islamorada seminar at Holiday Isle on Nov. 12.
