After winning the 2016 BoatUS Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship Presented by Cabela’s, Auburn University won a wealth of prizes, including a $5,000 check for their 44lb limit. Thanks to the great incentive programs that the Association of Collegiate Anglers offers competitors, the Auburn University team of Mitchell Jennings and Cole Burdeshaw were able to pocket an additional $2,000 in contingency money.
For their first place finish, Jennings and Burdeshaw each won a brand new pair of Costa Sunglasses, but because the duo was wearing Costa Sunglasses throughout the event, Jennings and Burdeshaw picked up $500 for being the highest finishing team wearing Costas. Jennings and Burdeshaw also had the Costa logo on their jersey which qualified them to win another $500, totaling $1,000 in contingency money from Costa! Not bad for just wearing some of the best sunglasses on the market, right?
The money didn’t stop rolling in there for Jennings and Burdeshaw, however. The Auburn team also ran a Yamaha Motor during the tournament, landing them $500 cash for their win, and because the team also had the Yamaha logo on their jerseys, Yamaha paid an additional $500!
“For us it was pretty easy to win these contingencies. We run a Yamaha so that was really easy and we also had Costas on throughout the tournament and we had it on our jerseys too,” said Jennings. “Winning a tournament of that size doesn’t happen very often, but it’s awesome that the sponsors do that for us and they really make it special. Next year we’re planning on getting more sponsor contingencies on our jerseys for sure and we hopefully win some more contingency money next year too!” exclaimed Jennings.
For next year’s jersey, be sure to add all of the Association of Collegiate Anglers Contingency Programs on you Gemini jersey. Don’t miss out during the 2017 Cabela’s Collegiate Bass Fishing Series, sign up for all of the contingency programs today!
