Author Hiaasen Pens Fourth Victory at Fall All-Tackle

South Florida’s nationally acclaimed columnist and author Carl Hiaasen scored the title of “repeat tournament winner” when he won his fourth Bonefishing World Championship/Islamorada All-Tackle Bonefish Tournament.

Hiaasen, guided by Islamorada’s Captain Tim Klein, earned top honors as grand champion as well as catching the largest bonefish at 11.12 pounds.

One release was enough to earn tournament newcomer Chris Berkeley of Fort Pierce, Fla., the title of runner-up grand champion. He fished with Islamorada guide Paul Tejera.

Eleven teams of anglers and guides scored 44 releases over the three-day challenge.

Dates for the 45th annual All-Tackle Bonefish Tournament are Oct. 10-12, 2011. The Bokor Spring All-Tackle Tournament is scheduled April 5-8, 2011.By: Andy Newman/Carol Shaughnessy
