Bill & Connie Bales Win First Tournament of the 2004 C.A.S.T. season

C.A.S.T. South held its first tournament on Coleto Creek on Sunday Jan 11th. Post cold-front conditions made fishing tough. Sunday started with very cold temperatures and heavy fog which delayed the start of the tournament until well after daylight.

The weather and mid-50 water temperature made fishing a challenge. Of twenty teams only two 5-fish stringers were weighed in. Bill and Connie Bales weighed 5 fish for 10.76 lbs to win first place. Bill also caught the overall big bass weighing 3.49 lbs. The father-daughter team of Doug and Jennifer Baker won 2nd place with 5-fish stringer weighing 9.75 lbs. Duane and Paula Lissy took 3rd place with 3 fish weighing 7.28 lbs. Rod and Rosanne Simpson, a transfer team from C.A.S.T. North, won 4th place with 3 fish weighing 6.68 lbs. Women’s big bass, caught by Karla Bullard, weighed 2.74 lbs. Rounding out the top six teams after the first tournament are the Waylon and Karla Bullard in 5th place and Bill and Mary Beth Langenberg in 6th place.

C.A.S.T. South welcomes all our old friends back for another season, along with the seven new teams that joined us. We’re looking forward to another year of fun fishing. Our 2nd tournament will be Sunday, Feb 15th at Choke Canyon. Our original schedule had the February tournament at Lake Austin which changed due to low water levels.

Thanks to our local sponsors, T&C Tackle, and Travis Boating Center, San Antonio.

P.S. Rumor has it that most fish were caught on crankbaits…. Remember to reserve your rooms @ Bass Inn for the Choke Canyon tournament ASAP.

See you there.
