ESPN’s Great Outdoor Games Airs on ESPN and ABC July 13-17

It’s almost time to tune your television to ESPN and ABC Sports July 13-17 as ESPN’s sixth annual Great Outdoor Games takes to the airwaves. Telecasts of the Games will include coverage of Sporting Dogs, Timber and Target events, as well as in-depth features on competitors and commentary by a team of seasoned sports reporters and outdoors enthusiasts.

Plus, the Games include five new events: Four Wheel Frenzy and Terracross for ATV enthusiasts, The Launch and Hot Zone for animal lovers and SuperJack, which will declare the best all-around lumberjack.

In all, the Games will feature 20 events and more than 180 competitors.

Jamie Little, The First Lady of Motorcross and a pit reporter for the 2005 IndyCar Series, will return as host. Also calling the action are play-by-play commentators Bill Clement and Paul Page, ESPN Outdoors host Tommy Sanders and College Basketball Analyst Jimmy Dykes.

For those who can’t experience the Games live, ESPN will televise coverage in primetime on three consecutive nights, plus weekend afternoon telecasts on ESPN and ABC. The programming will total 14.5 hours on ESPN and 3 hours on ABC.

Coverage of the Great Outdoor Games earned ESPN a Sports Emmy for Live Event Audio and Sound in both 2003 and 2004.

The Games will be held July 7-10 at new venues for the event, Disney’s Wide World of Sports ® Complex and Tenoroc Shooting Sports and Training Facility.

The Great Outdoor Games is the ultimate championship in outdoor sports featuring athletes from around the world (Canada, New Zealand, Australia and USA). Driven to be the best, these athletes qualified for the Games where they will compete for medals, prizes and the glory of being named Great Outdoor Games champions.
