Anglers Quest 2006 Tuesday Series Championship is now in the books, and the Tuesday Houston Series is complete for 2006. The event began on Friday evening with the presentation of the special Trophies to the Anglers of the Year team of Jason Reyes & Waylon Hull. They will receive free paid entries to all A/Q Tuesday Series Events in 2007 for the sixth year in nine attempts. The Calcutta Auction followed and sold teams from $55 to $700 and raised $5450.00 to add to the anglers pot. Lake Houston water was in good shape at normal pool. The weather was really nice with clouds and sunshine with a steady 5-10 mph breeze on both days of the event as mid 60’s at daybreak to low 90’s during the days. As Day 1 got underway with the playing of the national anthem, the 25 Qualified Teams took off into the dim morning light at 6:50 am going for the $12,700.00 purse which was the payback by A/Q at this Championship.

Chuck McClurkin & Randy Quin from Humble, Tx brought 5 Bass to the scales to lead the way on day 1 with 11.64 lbs. Jason Reyes & Waylon Hull from Humble, Tx brought in 5 bass that tipped the scales at 11.32 lbs to hold down the 2nd spot on day 1. The team of Brian Sims from Porter & Jamie Mathews from Rye, Tx brought 5 bass to the scales that weighed in at 11.25 lbs to grab the 3rd spot on day 1. The father & Son team of Chris & Lil Chris DiBerardino from Huffman, Tx had 5 bass at 10.70 lbs to hold down the 4th spot on day 1. The 5th spot on day 1 was filled by the team of Adam Boyd from Humble & Jordan Carlin from Katy, Tx. They had 3 bass that tipped the scales at 10.14 lbs and 1 of those bass ended up being the Big Bass of the event at 5.14 lbs and netted them $750.00 for the one bite which came on a rattle trap in Luces Bayou.

Day 2 was also started at 6:50 am by the playing of “God Bless the USA”. Day 2 weigh-in was exciting as the lead changed several times. Chuck & Randy brought 5 more bass to the scales that weighed 8.92 lbs to give them a 2 day total of 20.56 lbs for the win, the 1st place check of $2725.00 and the A/Q Goal Post Trophy’s. Chuck & Randy bought their team during the Calcutta auction on Friday night for $205.00 and received a 1st place Calcutta check for $2735.00 giving them a total payday worth $5460.00.

Dean Coleman from Kingwood & Jim Guzman from Cape Royale, Tx give it a valiant effort by bringing in 3 bass on day 1 at 5.45 lbs. On day 2 they brought the heaviest sack of the event, 14.98 lbs to give them 20.43 lbs for 2nd place and a check for $1515.00. Dean & Jim also bought themselves in the Calcutta auction and received another check for $1635.00 giving them a total payday of $3150.00.

The father & Son team of Tony & Ryan Hawk from Humble, Tx brought in 4 bass that weighed 6.82 lbs on day 1 and then on day 2 brought a fine limit of 5 bass at 12.70 lbs to give them a 2 day total of 19.52 lbs. One of their bass was the 2nd biggest bass of the event which topped the scales at 4.75 lbs and added $500.00 to their pot. They did not buy their team in the auction and took home 3rd place and $1685.00.

Brian Buchta bought the Hawk’s in the Calcutta auction for $300 and received a check for $815.00 for their 3rd place finish. Brian Sims & Jamie Mathews brought another 4 bass on day 2 that tipped the scales at 7.94 lbs and boosted their total to 9 bass at 19.19 lbs to claim 4th place and a check for $610.00.

The TIRE MAX sponsored Ranger boat of Reyes & Hull weighed in a total of 9 bass at 18.54 lbs over the 2 days and collected $300.00 for their 5th place finish. Nearly all the bass were caught cranking small crank baits, or flippin TX rigged plastic baits in 1-6 ft water all over the lake.

Anglers Quest 2007 Schedules are available online now.
