Anglers Quest 2007 Super Team Series # 5 blasted off at 6:05 am on Lake Sam Rayburn with 68 teamed anglers showing up to go for the all cash purse of $5370.00. Anglers Quest congratulates the top point team of Chris McCall & Pete Shivers “2007 Team Anglers of the Year” they will receive paid entries to all 2008 Super Team Series events, which has been announced to be done on Sam Rayburn again in 2008. The Super Team Series Championship will be a 2 day event held on Sam Rayburn June 30-July 1, 2007 for the Top 25 in points that entered at least 4 events or any team that entered all 5 events. This will be a no entry fee championship with $5000.00 guaranteed going to the winning team. The mandatory Championship & Calcutta meeting will be held at ” The Stump Restaurant and Club” on June 29th at 7:00 pm. Anyone & everyone is welcome to attend and participate in the Calcutta auction. The Top 7 from this Series will advance to the “Tournament of Champions” which will again, as last year be held on Lake Tyler on November 10-11, 2007 and will have a maximum of 30 teams from all A/Q series go to a very exciting $10,000.00 to the winning team Championship. All A/Q Championships include Calcutta auctions which builds the Championship purse to some very nice $$ to compete for.

The air temp at takeoff was 67 degrees with a warming to 85 degrees at weigh in time. The water was at approximately pool level with water temps running 70-72 degrees in the main lake. The fishing was very good on Big Sam today as 22 limits were brought to the scales for a total of 123 bass at 321.23 lbs making the average bass brought to the scales today weigh 2.61 lb.

The team of David Curtis from Trinity & Butch Carmack from Longview, Tx run David’s Ranger/Yamaha sponsored bass rig to numerous lake areas to catch their bass using Stanley jigs attached to American Rodsmiths rods & Shimano reels crankin & draggin humps and ridges in 10-35 ft of water. They caught 20 keeper bass and brought their best 5 to the scales at 20.55 lbs to finish in 1st place and collect the A/Q “Goal Posts” and $2100.00 for their day on the water. Alan Moore & Robert Davis from Lufkin, Tx fished together today and gathered up their best 5 bass and ended up with 20.01 lbs to finish in 2nd place and collected $1100.00. Larry Cotten from Humble and Clint May from LaPorte, Tx ran Larry’s Skeeter/Evinrude to numerous areas on the lake to catch their best 5 bass at 18.72 lbs draggin on creek channel bends to catch and bring to the scales to capture 3rd place and $780.00. One of Clint’s bass was the Big Bass of the event that tipped the scales at 7.48 lbs, for that one bite they received another $205.00 giving them a $985.00 payday. Shawn Hodges from Friendswood, Tx and Michael Needham from LaPorte, Tx fished together today and gathered up their 5 bass and ended up with 16.17 lbs to finish in 4th place and collect $475.00. Pete Elliot from Vidor and Danny Cherry from Kountze, Tx brought 5 bass to the scales to weigh 15.73 lbs to garner 5th place and $325.00. The last money spot today was claimed by Jack Carroll & Roy Carroway from Lufkin, Tx. They fished the south end of Sam Rayburn today around grass ledges to catch their 5 bass at 15.61 lbs and end up in 6th place to collect $250.00 for their day on the water. Jeff Jackowski & Kevin Ekdall brought in the 2nd big bass of the event at 6.25 lbs to collect $135.00. Anglers Quest will be back on Big Sam on June 30-July 1 for the Super Team Series Championship. Anglers Quest’s next event will be the Tuesday Series on Lake Houston at Lake Houston Marina on May 29, it is a $70.00 team entry & take off will be at 6pm, weigh in will be at 9:15 pm. On May 30 A/Q will be on Lake Conroe for the Wednesday Series with $60.00 team entry hosted from Inland Discount Marine. This series will also takeoff at 6pm and weigh in at 9:15 pm. Anglers Quest will be at Kickapoo Bait & Tackle on Lake Livingston on Saturday, June 2 for the 11th of 20 Saturday series events.
