19 Hours of Coverage Begins On ABC Sports
July 19 ABC Sports, ESPN and ESPN2 will combine for 19 hours of programming from Reno-Tahoe and the 2003 ESPN Great Outdoor Games Presented by Dodge. The first telecasts will be Saturday โ a one-hour show on ABC at 3:30 p.m. followed by shows on ESPN at 4:30 and 9 p.m. ESPN will also have programming on Sunday afternoon and Monday night; ESPN2 will carry the Games on Sunday and Tuesday nights, as well as highlight shows the rest of next week.
Mark Malone returns as host, joined by a team of ESPN Outdoors hosts, as well as commentators familiar to ESPN viewers for their work on such sports as football, basketball, hockey and auto racing who are avid outdoors enthusiasts.
The fourth annual Great Outdoor Games โ the ultimate championship of outdoor sports โ featured more than 200 competitors (more than 250 including the dogs) battling for more than $300,000 in prize money. There are 23 events in four sport categories โ Fishing, Target Sports, Timber Events and Sporting Dogs. The four-day event was held July 10-13
in a new venue โ the Reno-Tahoe region, “America’s Adventure Place.”
