BASS Saturday, Saltwater Sunday and Hunt Sunday Take Viewers Out of the Living Room and Into the Outdoors
ESPN Outdoors has announced its most thrilling schedule of outdoor programming on ESPN2 on Saturday and Sunday mornings in 2006.ย
Both diehard outdoors enthusiasts and casual fans will learn hunting as well as bass and saltwater fishing tips when watching returning shows that feature CITGO Bassmaster Elite Series anglers as well as new shows in the lineup.
Those include bass fishing shows The CITGO Bassmasters and The Fishin’ Hole with Jerry McKinnis, saltwater shows Guidehouse: Montauk, Wanna Go Fishin’? and Offshore Adventures, and hunting shows Whitetail Country, Realtree Outdoors and Get Wild! With Cindy Garrison.
“Our Saturday and Sunday lineups are designed to serve those fans with a passion for the outdoors lifestyle,” said Julie Sobieski, senior director of TV and media platforms, ESPN Outdoors. “Our 2006 lineup will entertain, but also will highlight for viewers where they can go to experience and learn more about what they saw.”
Sobieski said ESPN Outdoors programming will delve into the how-to, when-to and where-to details viewers want to see. “After a successful 2005 season, we are focused on serving our fans even more, with exciting new programming that speaks to the heart of any true outdoorsman’s sense of adventure and quest to improve their skills,” she said. “That is key.”
The 2006 programming builds on impressive ratings in 2005. Viewership of Saltwater Sunday increased 15 percent from 2004 and Hunt Sunday saw an 8 percent increase in the same year.
BASS Saturday
Get ready to pitch, flip and cast as BASS Saturday returns in 2006 with dedicated programming designed to keep viewers informed, involved and intrigued in bass fishing. BASS Saturday returns to ESPN2 in 2006 with shows airing from 8 a.m. to noon EST, including:
BassCenter– Reporting the hottest news and information in the bass fishing world, hosts Byron Velvick and John Kernan profile anglers, uncover stories and address issues of interest to all bass fishing enthusiasts.
The CITGO Bassmasters– A one-hour show following the competition of the CITGO Bassmaster Elite Series tournament trail.
Jimmy Houston Outdoors– With more featured fishing excursions than ever before, Jimmy Houston takes viewers across the country for outdoors excitement.
Beat Charlie Moore– Average anglers challenge fishing legend Charlie Moore to a little one-on-one competition.
Additionally, BASS Saturday will include four Signature Series programs in 2006. Each will empower viewers with the tools and information they need to become better anglers. “These new programs will join an already varied ensemble of bass-related television series designed to serve fans of both professional and recreational fishing and the lifestyles they lead,” said Dan Bowen, ESPN Outdoors senior coordinating producer. Bass Tech– BASS anglers turned technology experts upgrade bass boats, design or modify a lure or show viewers how to improve motor or electronics performance.
A Day on the Lake– ย A spirited competition in which a pro unfamiliar with a new lake tries to unlock its secrets before a local amateur uses his home field advantage to beat him.
Road Trip: Bass- Chronicles the lives of three men who travel the country in search of bass fishing’s hottest spots.
Record Hunters: Search for the record Peacock Bass- ย Saltwater fishing guides Joe Rodriguez and Rob Fordyce make their way to the Amazon in search of record Peacock bass.
Saltwater Sunday
Get ready to ride the waves with ESPN2’s Saltwater Sunday block at 7 โ 11 a.m., from January to June. Each pulse-pounding show takes the viewer on an oceanic journey to the best saltwater fishing spots around the world. From trips off the coast of North America to adventures in the Caribbean, viewers get the chance to jump on board with cast and crew โ literally – in the exciting new series, Wanna Go Fishin’? Additional programs include George Poveromo’s World of Saltwater Fishing, Offshore Adventures, Ocean Hunter, and Spanish Fly.
Hunt Sunday
From July through December at 7 โ 11:30 a.m. it’s time to lock and load as ESPN2’s Hunt Sunday takes aim at programs such as The New American Sportsman, Realtree Outdoors, Get Wild! With Cindy Garrison, Tom Miranda’s Advantage Adventures and Whitetail Country. These programs and more take viewers on exotic hunts that stretch from Africa to the continental United States. From the stalk of the game to the thrill of the hunt, viewers get up close with shotguns, rifles and bows to take on some of the world’s most elusive game.ย
