Fishing the Jig

Michael Iaconelli, Team Yamaha Pro. One of my favorite techniques of all is jig fishing. The size of the jig is very important, I use a Mannâs Stone jig and I alternate between four sizes. One of the biggest things in jig fishing you can do is use the size of the jig head to match the conditions of your fishing. For example, if I’m skip pitching under docks, I’ll go to a 1/4 ounce or a 3/8 ounce stone jig, which will let me skip, it’ll give me that light presentation I need with a spinning or a conventional rod to let that bait flow under the dock. In other situations, when I’m flipping heavy matted vegetation or cover, I want to go to a 1/2 ounce or 3/4 ounce Stone Jig. Remember one of the biggest tips you can learn in jig fishing is to use every size to your advantage. Use every size 1/4, 3/8, 1/2, and 3/4 to the conditions that you are fishing in.By: Walker Agency
