Flipping and Pitching….keep the speed constant

When it comes to flipping and pitching, one thing that I and several other pros have discovered is that it’s really important to keep your trolling motor running at a constant speed as you move your boat along a shoreline. If you’re constantly going on and off the foot pedal, the fish will sense that something’s there, and then it’s not, and then it’s there, and that puts them on guard. Even though I use what I consider the quietest trolling motor a MinnKota Maxim, the fish sense a change in vibration in the water. So the thing you want to do with your trolling motor speed is pick a setting that’s going to keep you moving at a slow, steady pace as you go.
