Anglers Quest Rayburn Saturday Team #5
Anglers Quest 2013 Sam Rayburn Saturday Team Series #5 out of The Umphrey Pavilion at Sam Rayburn, Tx began this event with 78 teamed anglers showing up to fish for the $6610.00 purse. Any team entering 6 of the Sam Rayburn Saturday Series events will automatically qualify for the 2-day Rayburn Championship. The top team in points after the series will be declared the Team Anglers of the Year and will be awarded free entries to all 2014 Rayburn Saturday Series events. The teams entering all 8 Rayburn Saturday series events will automatically qualify for all 3 of the Lakes Saturday Series 2-day Championships. Any team qualifying for any A/Q Championship will be allowed to enter the “Tournament of Champions” on October 23-27 at Toledo Bend.
This 5th event of 2013 was started at 6:05 am. Sam Rayburn water was in good shape and 1.77 feet below normal pool level with water temps running 64-66 degrees. The weather at takeoff was a very windy 37 degrees with a warming to 75 degrees by weigh in time. The fish catching was good on Big Sam today as there were 23 limits brought to the scales, for a total of 127 bass at 280.59 lbs making the average bass brought to the scales today weigh 2.20 lb.
The team of Greg Fenn from Broaddus, Tx & Mark Thompson from Lufkin, Tx their bass rig to north lake areas with to catch their bass throwing tx rigged flukes in 5-10 ft of water. They managed to cull a couple times to finish in 1st place with 15.35 lbs. This win made them $2500.00 for their day on the water.
The team of Mike Needham from LaPorte, Tx & Todd Gualandri from Friendswood, Tx ran Mike’s bass rig to mid lake creek areas over grass to catch their bass throwing Stanley 1/2 oz spinner baits in 3-7 ft of water. They managed to cull several times to finish in 2nd place with 14.55 lbs. This finish made them $1250.00 for their day on the water.
The father & son team of Stan & Steve Burgay from Timpson, Tx ran their bass rig to mid & north lake creek areas to probe the grassy areas holding bass to bring 14.26 lbs to the scales. They finished in 3rd and collected $700.00 for their day on the water.
The team of Charles Ford from Jasper, Tx & Ron Risenhoover from Lufkin, Tx finished in 4th with 14.01 lbs and had the Big Bass of the event at 6.59 lbs. Charles & Ron both had recently purchased Foremost insurance from the Salamone agency and collected the Bonus of $200 each making them $1165.00 for their day on the water. They also wanted to Thank their sponsors Viscious Line, Bass Kandi Lures, Daiichi Hooks, Castaway Rods, Interstate Batteries,The Tackle Monkey, Performance Marine Propellers, Champion Boats & Honda Marine. The team of N Dee Williams & Jeff Wise from Lufkin, Tx finished in 5th with 13.77 lbs and collected $500.00. The team of Brian Branum & Keith White finished in 6th with 13.50 lbs and collected $400.00.

On May 19th Anglers Quest will be at Lake Houston Marina on Lake Houston for the 5th of 8 Lake Houston Individual Series events. On May 21st A/Q will be at Lake Houston for the Tuesday night event and then on May 25th Anglers Quest will be back at Lake Houston Marina on Lake Houston for the 5th of 8 Houston Saturday Series events. On May 26th Anglers Quest will be at Kickapoo Bait & Tackle on Lake Livingston for the 5th of 8 Lake Livingston Individual Series events. Then A/Q will be back at The Umphrey Pavilion on Sam Rayburn on June 1st & 2nd for the 6th of 8 Sam Rayburn Saturday & Individual Series events.
