For Larry Davis Jr., who spends his working hours as a motorcycle patrol officer for Hillsborough County, Florida, a day
fishing or hunting is a much welcomed opportunity to decompress and relax.
Thanks to fishing legend and marine wildlife artist Guy Harvey, Officer
Davis of Lakeland, Florida will be adding a new bucket list item to his
outdoor adventures on November 21st when he joins Captain Scott Kerslake for
a fishing outing to remember on Lake Okeechobee.
Davis recently won an on-line competition for a Guy Harvey Outpost Lake
Okeechobee fishing adventure. The drawing also included a cache of
personalized Guy Harvey merchandise and fishing gear.
“You know, I’ve been fishing as long as I can remember,” said the Central
Florida native, the son of Sgt. Larry Davis Sr., a retired Hillsborough
County Sheriff Deputy. “Mostly small lakes and some offshore grouper
fishing, but I’ve never fished Lake Okeechobee. I’m really looking forward
to this”
The drawing hosted by Guy Harvey Outpost Resorts included freshwater lure
kits from DOA Lures, a custom rod from SaltH2o Customs, Guy Harvey Fishing
shirts, two personalized Guy Harvey Law Enforcement Mugs and bass fishing
decals from Guy Harvey Outpost.
A professional tournament fisherman, Capt. Kerslake is considered one of
lake Okeechobee’s top bass fishing guides. Lake Okeechobee, considered the
Mother of the Everglades, is known internationally for its Largemouth Bass
Fishing. The Big O is the second largest lake in the United States.
Guy Harvey Outpost Resorts along with RV Campground developer Elite Resorts
have teamed together to transform Okeechobee County’s Okee-Tantie Campground
and Marina into a bucket list vacation destination for North America’s
nation of RV and boating/fishing enthusiasts. The property will be rebranded
the Guy Harvey Outpost RV Resort and Marina, Lake Okeechobee.
Comprising over 100 acres overlooking Lake Okeechobee and the Kissimmee
River, redevelopment plans for Phase I include a new Guy Harvey Outfitter
Store with riverfront tiki bar, 40 slip boat barn, and a 10,000 sf
waterfront clubhouse featuring the Guy Harvey River Grill and Bar to serve
the community, campground and 40 cabins available for overnight lodging.
Anticipated reopening is spring, 2017.
