The July CAST Northeast Tournament at Lake Tawakoni was another successful gathering. The weather could not have been better for a July tournament with mild temperatures and a gentle breeze. The fishing was also great for July, especially for Lake Tawakoni, which is known as being very tough in the hot summer months. Lots of fish were brought to the scales as most of the couples had landed keepers. It was just another great tournament for all our CAST couples. Most of the teams that finished high in the standings landed their fish in Rabbit Cove. At one time, I counted 17 boats in that one cove alone. You could almost walk from boat to boat. Yet there were enough fish to go around for everyone. The fish did not seem to be particular about what baits they hit with couples using everything from top water baits to Carolina rigs. It was just a good day to be on the lake.

1st place Tim and Candi Edwards 18.65 lbs. 2nd place Bill and Audrey Gammons 15.00 lbs. 3rd place Randy and Keshia Stevenson 14.77 lbs. 4th place Allen and Vicki Redmon 13.74 lbs. 5th place Charles and Linda Avant 13.40 lbs. 6th place Paul and Renee Hanna 11.36 lbs.
The CAST Northeast Region has one more tournament this season. Not only are the “top six” places still very much up for grabs but there are many couples who still have a chance to qualified for the CAST Classic Tournament. This year’s Classic is being held at Lake Brownwood and hosted by the Brownwood Chamber of Commerce on October 1st, 2nd and 3rd. As important as our knowing who will qualify for the Classic, all eyes and thoughts are on who will be our top “Anglers of the Year” for the 1999 season. And then of course which couple will come in 1st place at the Classic and claim the coveted title the “1999 CAST Anglers of the Year.”
