Jim & Brenda Harris win two in a row with help from Brenda’s 6.76 kicker.

Wind, wind, and more wind is what the couples from the Northeast region of CAST faced on Cedar Creek this weekend. With steady winds of 25 mph and gust to 40 mph it was not only a challenge to catch some bass, it was a challenge just to be able to get to them. Almost every couple was completely soaked from the water that blew into their boat while running back to weigh-in. I heard several comments from the couples such as “my boat is great on windy lakes, but that is an ocean out there” and “never again will I fish a tournament in such high winds, and then with a small grin, well maybe just one more”.

The wind may have hampered the fishermen, but it did not seem to bother the fish at all. Several 10 pound stringers did not get into the money, with most of the couples finding some fish to weigh. Jim & Brenda Harris had the big bass of the tournament with a fish weighing 6.76 pounds. Actually it was Brenda, who caught the fish and she landed her fish on a white Horizon spinner bait in 3 feet of water. It is the largest bass of her lifetime. I must say, if you are going to catch the largest bass of you life, there’s no better time than when fishing a tournament. Way to go, Brenda.

Butch & Delores Anderson had the second big bass of the day with a fish going 5.97 pounds. Again, actually it was Delores who landed the fish. What happened to all of the macho men who were fishing in this tournament? How did they all manage to let the little women take all of the big bass honors for this tournament?

Just being gentlemen I guess, because I know that they would never concede the fact that maybe some of the women are just better (fishermen?) than they are. There was no one area that produced fish better than others with bass being caught all over the lake.
