Anglers Quest 2006 Super Team Series #7 blasted off at 6:00 am on Lake Houston with 38 teamed anglers showing up to go for the all cash purse of $2280.00. This Series is now complete and will provide the “Team Anglers of the Year” Jeff Jackowski & Kevin Ekdall with free entries to all 2007 Super Team Series events. The Super Team Series Championship and “Tournament of Champions” will be held on Lake Tyler and will take 14 teams from this series to a very exciting $10,000 to the winner Championship. All A/Q Championships include Calcutta auctions which builds the Championship purse to some very nice $$ to compete for.
The air temp at take-off was 74 degrees with a warming to 96 degrees at weigh-in time. The water was at approximately normal pool level with water temps running in the mid 80’s in the main lake. The fishing was very slow on Houston today as only 4 limits were brought to the scales for a total of 40 bass at 80.00 lbs making the average bass brought to the scales today weigh 2.00 lb.
Jimmy Emmons Jr & Jeff Stanley from Humble, Tx ran Jimmy’s Champion/Yamaha bass rig to mid and south lake areas to cull to their limit of 5 bass casting crank baits to docks, piers and brush and ended up with 11.18 lbs to finish in 1st place and collect the A/Q “Goal Posts” and $1200.00 for their day on the water. Randy Quin from Huffman, Tx fished alone today from his Champion/Mercury bass rig and gathered up his 5 bass throwing small cranks and Tx rigged worms around docks and piers all over the lake and ended up with 10.88 lbs to finish in 2nd place and collect $500.00. Larry Cotten & Chris DiBerardino from Huffman, Tx ran Larry’s Skeeter/Yamaha to the north end of the lake for the first half of the day and to the south end of the lake for the remainder of their fishing time flipping tx rigged worms and throwing small cranks to catch their best 5 bass to bring to the scales to capture 3rd place and $250.00. Jeff Jackowski & Kevin Ekdall from Spring, Tx came to Lake Houston and powered Jeff’s Cobra/Mercury bass rig to numerous creek areas with brush to catch their best 4 bass of 9.06 lbs to garner 4th place and $140.00 for their day on the water. Jeff & Kevin also had the 2nd big bass of the day at 3.44 lbs to give them another check for $75.00. Brian Helsley & Wade Hester brought a 3.70 lber to the scales for the 1st big bass and a check for $115.00. Anglers Quest will be back on Lake Livingston on August 5 for the 15th of 20 Saturday Series events and again on August 12 for the 10th of 12 Big Bass Bash events, enter anytime at Kickapoo Bait & Tackle.
