Wind, rain and a lighting filled sky greeted our C.A.S.T./North couples Sunday morning just as most of them were hooking up their boats to head for the lake. By 7:00 A.M. the skies were clearing and the fish were beginning to bite. The bass were chasing the large schools of shad that been pushed to the points and the rocky banks in the Little Mineral, Mill Creek and Highport Areas.
Joe and Ashley Schroder claimed first place honors with a 10.90 Lb five fish stringer. Joe used a chartreuse crank bait on main lake points and in areas where the shad were running the banks. Using this pattern Joe boated a beautiful 3.95 Lb Smallie for Big Bass of the tournament. For his effort Joe took home a check for $711.00 to share with daughter Ashley, who stayed home to study for college finals.
It was after 12:00 P.M. and Ronnie and Margaret Sherbert did not have a keeper in the boat. Margaret finally tied on a white spinner bait with a couple of gold blades and proceeded to put 5 keepers in the boat to land them second place with 10.10 LBS.
Second place Big Bass was shared by Darrell Weyman and Linda Anderson and Ronnie and Margaret Sherbert. Both teams brought in a nice 3.20 Lb bass. Darrell and Linda used a jerk bait in the Little Mineral area and Margaret & Ronnie used a white spinner bait along the rocky banks of the Mill Creek area.

C.A.S.T./North would like to pass along a special thank you to Highport Marina. Tim Hall efficiently handled the parking lot and the launching area. Jessica Griswold, Director of Business Development provided us with a very nice shaded cabana for weigh-in.
The BellPort Group is now operating Highport Marina and they are very tournament friendly. They also have the best parking and ramps on the Texas side of the lake.
