Anglers Quest 2010 Conroe Weekend Team Series #7 out of El Dorado Jack’s in Montgomery, TX began this event with 20 teamed anglers showing up to fish for the $1400.00 purse.

The event began at safe light at 6:00 am with the playing of the National Anthem and weigh in conducted at 3:15 pm. With temps in the 70’s-90’s all day with a slight breeze this was a great day to be on the water with the other weekend boats. This Conroe Weekend Team Series after all 9 events will provide the Angler of the year with free entries to all 2011 Conroe Weekend Team Series events. The anglers entering a minimum of 5 Conroe Weekend Team series events will automatically qualify for the 1-day Lake Conroe Weekend Team Championship in October. Any angler making the cut to any A/Q Championship will also be eligible for the “Tournament of Champions” at Lake Palestine in November.

Lake Conroe water was in good shape and about normal pool level with water temps ranning 86-88 degrees. The fish catching was good for the anglers today on Conroe as there were 4 limits of bass brought to the scales today. There was a total of 30 bass at 121.63 lbs making the average bass brought to the scales today weigh 4.05 lb.

The father & son team of Julian Clepper II & Julian Clepper III from Magnolia, Tx ran their Champion/Yamaha bass rig to numerous areas north & south of the 1097 bridge. They used their Castaway rods to throw Tx rigged & C-rigged big worms to catch their bass in 18-20 ft water with brush piles. They reported catching 12 keeper bass and culled to their best 5 at 26.66 lbs with a kicker of 9.06 lbs to finish in 1st place and collect $950.00 for their day on the water. They did own a Bass Guard Culling system that put an additional $50.00 in their pocket. With this win today it moved the Cleppers into 1st place in the YTD standings to take over the Angler of the Year position with 2 events left to go.

Another father & son team of Alan Burkhalter & Beau Burkhalter from Houston, Tx ran their bass rig to main lake areas to catch 5 keeper bass flipping c-rigged worms and throwing small cranks in 12-18 ft water with brush to bring in their creel at 21.19 lbs with a kicker at 6.08 lbs. The Burkhalters day payed them $400.00 for their day on the water.

The team of Charles Bebber & Keith Caka were the 1st place out of the money today and finished with 4 bass at 19.27 lbs. They were not present at the awards ceremony to receive the gift certificates … so they were awarded to Garrett Pierce & Skip Reagan Jr whom took home the Santone & ZZ Lures gift certificates for their day on the water with 5 bass at 15.66 lbs.
