Jim Moynagh, Team Yamaha Pro. When it comes to flipping and pitching, one thing that I and several other pros have discovered is that it’s really important to keep your trolling motor running at a constant speed as you move your boat along a shoreline. If you’re constantly going on and off the foot pedal, the fish kind of sense that something’s there, and then it’s not, and then it’s there, and it makes it more aware. Even though I use what I consider the quietest trolling motor a Mancoda Maxim, the fish are still going to sense the change in vibration and the change in noise. What you want to do with your trolling motor speed, is pick a setting that’s going to keep you moving at a slow, steady pace as you go. Just keep your foot the troll motor and just keep going, don’t take your foot off unless you have to.By: Walker Agency
