Anglers Quest 2010 Conroe Weekend Team Series Championship is now in the books, and the Weekend Team Series for Lake Conroe is complete for 2010. The event began on Friday evening at El Dorado Jack’s on Lake Conroe with the presentation of the special ” Anglers Quest Goal Post” to the new “2010 Anglers of the Year”, Julian Clepper II & Julian Clepper III, they will receive free paid entries to all A/Q Saturday Team Series Events in 2011. The Calcutta Auction followed and sold teams from $50 to $425 and raised $1500.00 to add to the anglers pot. As at all Anglers Quest Championship auctions, there were 10 Limit Stix American Rodsmiths rods auctioned off to raise $ for the “Tournament of Champions” coming up at Lake Palestine in November.
The weather was clear and very nice on Saturday with high 60’s at daybreak to high 80’s during the day with a light southerly breeze for the event on Lake Conroe. As the event got underway with the 10 qualified teams taking off into the dim shoreline light at 6:30 am. The anglers were all going for the $4,920.00 purse that was the payback by Anglers Quest at this Championship event. The water at Lake Conroe was in very good shape and was at approximately 1 1/2 ft below normal pool level. At the end of the day the 10 teams brought in 1 limit of bass, 14 fish that totaled 53.17 lbs with a 3.79 avg.
The team of Julian Clepper II & Julian Clepper III from Magnolia brought in 1 bass at 2.76 lbs to collect the Santone & ZZ Lures gift certificates.
Eddy Thomas & Mike Parsons fished this event and brought in 1 bass at 7.54 lbs to claim 4th place and 1st Big Bass with a nice one at 7.54 lbs. They received $300.00 for the Big Bass.
The team of Danny McElroy from Shiro & Jarrod McElroy from Conroe ran Jarrod’s Triton/Johnson all over Lake Conroe and came to the scales with 2 bass at 8.26 lbs to give them a 3rd place finish and 2nd Big Bass and collected $500.00. They did not purchase their team in the Calcutta auction for $110.00 BUT Robert Baney did and laid claim to $150.00 for their 3rd place finish.
The team of Garrett Pierce from Conroe & Skip Regan Jr from Willis brought in 3 bass at 10.50 lbs and claimed 2nd place and $820.00. They did not purchase their team in the Calcutta auction for $300.00 But, R W Loving did and received a check for $450.00.
The team of Charles Bebber from Willis & Keith Caka from Magnolia ran their bass rig to north/south lake areas in 10-16 ft water and put together a nice limit of 5 bass that tipped the scales at 18.96 lbs to finish 1st in this event and collected $1800.00. They caught all their bass on Tx rigged worms & deep cranks. They did not purchase their team in the Calcutta auction for $425.00 But Robert Baney did and received a check for $900.00…..Good Job Guys!!
Anglers Quest 2011 Schedules are now available online at the anglers-quest website. The 1st events for the 2011 season will be the Saturday Series Team event on Sam Rayburn, January 8, & the Individual event on January 9, 2011.
