Industry marketing veteran Wanda Kenton Smith announced today the formation of a new marketing consulting practice, Kenton Smith Marketing, an evolution of Kenton Smith Advertising & Public Relations, a full service agency of 13.5 years which represented more than 30 leading marine brands since 1995 and earned more than $20 million in sales.
In her new capacity, Kenton Smith has tapped former agency staffers to independent contractor status available on an “as need” basis, and is also establishing a network of professional colleagues for strategic collaborations. She plans to focus her energies moving forward on marketing consulting, branding, advertising/media, public relations and promotions, editorial writing/editing, industry diversity development and other related turnkey marketing initiatives.
“While I have thoroughly enjoyed the agency business and working with great teams over the years, market conditions dictated that the business model change,” said Kenton Smith. “Clients today want and need experienced marketing specialists who can deliver world class services, without the higher fees associated with heavy overhead and operating expenses. My new solo practice with virtual contractor relationships offers win-win results for all involved, while allowing the freedom to pursue new opportunities.”
Kenton Smith has already secured clients for the new business including long-time client Regulator Marine for media planning; Xantrex Technology for North American PR; Hunter Marine for media and marketing services; Mainship Trawlers for marketing services; and Treasure Chest for direct response copywriting, public relations and web content, with more in development.
