Anglers Quest 2010 Wednesday Conroe Championship is now in the books, and the Wednesday Series for Lake Conroe is complete for 2010. The event began on Friday evening at El Dorado Jack’s on Lake Conroe with the presentation of the special ” Anglers Quest Goal Post” to the new “2010 Anglers of the Year”, Mike Hudson & John Stephenson, they will receive free paid entries to all 100% payback Wednesday Series Events in 2011. The Calcutta Auction followed and sold teams from $60 to $330 and raised $1540.00 to add to the anglers pot. As at all Anglers Quest Championship auctions, there were 10 Limit Stix American Rodsmiths rods auctioned off to raise $ for the “Tournament of Champions” coming up at Lake Palestine in November.
The weather was clear and very nice on Saturday with high 60’s at daybreak to high 80’s during the day with a light southerly breeze for the event on Lake Conroe. As the event got underway with the 9 qualified teams taking off into the dim shoreline light at 6:55 am. The anglers were all going for the $4300.00 purse that was the payback by Anglers Quest at this Championship event. The water at Lake Conroe was in very good shape and was at approximately 1 ? ft below normal pool level. At the end of the day the 10 teams brought in 1 limit of bass, 14 fish that totaled 53.17 lbs with a 3.79 avg.
The team of Jimmy Cole & Ryan Hayes from Montgomery brought in 2 bass at 9.00 lbs to collect the Santone & ZZ Lures gift certificates.
Our Automated Mailing Solutions team of Wade Hester & Brian Helsley from Conroe fished this event and brought in 3 bass at 11.93 lbs to claim 4th place and 2nd Big Bass with a nice one at 6.58 lbs. They received $180.00 for their 2nd Big Bass.
The team of Terry Ponfick from Hockley & Matt Ogrodowicz from Tomball ran Matt’s PaPa’s wrapped ride all over Lake Conroe and came to the scales with 3 bass at 13.05 lbs to give them a 3rd place finish and 1st Big Bass and collected $270.00.
The team of Mike Hudson & John Stephenson brought in 4 bass at 14.87 lbs and claimed 2nd place and $810.00. They did purchase their team in the Calcutta auction for $330.00 and received a check for $460.00 making their total payday worth $1270.00.
The Texas A&M team of Kyle Nitchske & Tyler Goetzman brought in 5 bass by running Kyle’s Ranger/Yamaha bass rig to north/south lake areas in deep and shallow water and put together a nice limit of 5 bass that tipped the scales at 16.77 lbs to finish 1st in this event and collected $1500.00. They caught all their bass on Tx rigged worms & cranks. They did not purchase their team in the Calcutta auction for $310.00 But Tyler’s Dad Mark Goetzman did and received a check for $1080.00. All total they collected $2580.00 for their day on the water…..Good Job Guys!!
Anglers Quest 2011 Schedules are now available online at the anglers-quest website. The 1st events for the 2011 season will be the Saturday Series Team event on Sam Rayburn, January 8, & the Individual event on January 9, 2011.
