Mike Hudson & John Stephenson WIN BIG

Anglers Quest 2006 Wednesday Series Championship is now in the books, and the Wednesday Conroe Series is complete for 2006. The event began on Friday evening with the presentation of the special Trophies to 2006 Anglers of the Year, Keith Kramer & Chuck Gstohl. They will receive free paid entries to all A/Q Wednesday Series Events in 2007. The Top 10 Angler Teams of the year were awarded Top 10 Plaques with the statistics of all 23 2006 Wednesday Series events engraved. The $50 per team donated raised a Big Bass Pot totaling $1000.00. The Calcutta Auction followed and sold teams from $110 to $1200 and raised $10,500.00 to add to the anglers pot. Lake Conroe water was in good shape at about 3½ ft below normal pool. The weather was very nice with just a slight breeze on day 1 but turned windy and rainy on day 2 of the event with both days in the mid 60s at daybreak to mid 80s during the days. As Day 1 got underway with the playing of the national anthem, the 22 Qualified Teams took off into the dim morning light at 6:50 am going for the $15,900.00 purse which was the payback by A/Q at this Championship.

Mike Hudson from Magnolia & John Stephenson from Montgomery, Tx brought 5 Bass to the scales to lead the way on day 1 with 20.15 lbs. Mike & Barbara Parsons from Willis, Tx brought in 5 bass that tipped the scales at 15.82 lbs to hold down the 2nd spot on day 1. The team of Bob Covey from Magnolia & Charlie Walker from Houston, Tx brought 3 bass to the scales that weighed in at 13.15 lbs to grab the 3rd spot on day 1, one of their bass ended up being the Big Bass of the event at 6.22 lbs and made them a kool $660.00 for that one bite. The team of Russell Cecil & Wesley Schubert from Willis, Tx had 5 bass at 11.84 lbs to hold down the 4th spot on day 1. The 5th spot on day 1 was filled by the team of Eddy Thomas & Evan Morozoff from Willis, Tx. They had 3 bass that tipped the scales at 10.65 lbs and one of their bass ended up being the 2nd Big Bass of the event and made them a kool $440.00.

Day 2 was started at 6:55 am by the national anthem. Hudson & Stephenson brought 5 more bass to the scales that weighed 14.35 lbs to give them a 2 day total of 34.50 lbs and the 1st place A/Q Trophies. Mike & John did purchase their team and the 2nd and 3rd place teams in the Calcutta auction on Friday evening and ended up collecting checks in the total amount of $11,120.00 for their 2 days on the lake. Cecil & Schubert brought in 3 more bass on day 2 that weighed 7.26 lbs to give them a 2 day total of 19.10 lbs. They did not buy their team in the auction but, took home 2nd place and $1865.00. Parsons & Parsons brought another 1 bass at 3.04 lbs to the scales on day 2 to boost their 2-day total to 18.86 lbs and claimed 3rd place and a $1170.00 payday. Julian Clepper & Matt Ogrodowicz managed to bring in 6 bass to bring their 2 day total to 15.42 lbs and claim 4th place and $430.00. Covey & Walker weighed in a total of 3 bass at 13.15 lbs over the 2 days and collected 5th place and $875.00.
