Mills and Mak win season opener under tough conditions

Two weeks after the Kankakee River Open found the river almost in the same conditions,  high and cold water temperatures.  Even with a warming trend, the water averaged right around 50 degrees.  Throw in a high pressure system that settled in for the duration and you had the ingredients for a very tough tournament.

The team of Andy Mills and Mike Mak made the season opener their second win of the season by bringing 3 bass to the scales weighing 5.26 pounds.  They also caught the big bass of the tournament with a largemouth weighing 2.36 pounds.

Finishing in second was the team of Rob Rendant and Gary Call.  They caught one bass that weighed 1.79 pounds.

Mark Noell finished in third with two bass weighing 1.78 pounds.

Rounding out the top 5 was the team of Ray Call and Don Deerwester with one fish weighing 1.74 pounds and in fifth place was the team of Dave and Ron Call.  They caught one fish weighing 1.69 pounds.

The next tournament is scheduled for April 23 launching out of the Shelby ramp.
